The Valley Green has been painted countless times since the mid 1800's. With the serene setting and beautiful backdrop of the Wissahickon Valley, it has been a favorite resting place for weary travelers, a romantic memory for weddings, and of course, a great place to feed the ducks. "Valley Green In Winter" by Howard N. Watson, A.W.S. "Valley Green" by Howard N. Watson, A.W.S. Mr. Watson is a nationally renowned watercolor artist who has been commissioned by such individuals such as President Jimmy Carter (Mr. Watson was artist in residence during the Carter administration!), President Bill Clinton, Perry Como and others. He has performed painting workshops nationally and internationally. His workshops have been conducted at the New Jersey shore, Philadelphia County, Bucks and Montgomery Counties, and the famous Cape Cod in New England. He has also presented painting workshops in Austria, Switzerland, France, Scotland, Canada, Hawaii, and in Norway. Mr. Watson is represented by the Carol Schwartz Gallery in Philadelphia. Valley Green by Richard William Greenleaf. Richard is a self-taught artist who enjoys painting oceanic scenes, historical areas, cityscapes with architectural value, as well as various wildlife scenes. His style is an extremely colorful blend of realism and impressionism using acrylics with a watered technique. He uses many layers of color that brings out the real depth and color that is not always apparent to the naked eye.
"Boat House Row, Philadelphia" by Laura Matthew Laura Matthew has been painting and drawing since age nine. While studying at the Tyler School of Art and living around the world, her talent has developed to a level of such fine detail the viewer is compelled to take a closer look. Laura's works have been acknowledged throughout the area in various forums and contests. On October 20, 1999, she was featured as "Citizen of the Week" in the Ambler Gazette. Also in that year, she was featured on WPVI-TV, Channel 6ABC's "Prime Time" television program. Laura is in the beginning stages of painting the Valley Green Inn. We are exceptionally proud to have such a talented and detail oriented artist paint the Inn. This is why we include her amazing portrait of "Boathouse Row, Philadelphia".
Valley Green Inn by Thomas Linker. Mr. Linker is a widely recognized artist and native to Pennsylvania. His colorful impressionistic view of the Valley Green is a unique, and beautiful rendition. A 1999 "Best of the Show-Popular Vote" at the Woodmere museum is one of the many awards this fine artist has garnered.
